Pana Stores (South West) sponsor the Exeter Chiefs

Chiefs-Logo

Upcoming Dates

11th August - Official Shirt launch at Sandy Park, home of the Chiefs.

19th August - Exeter Store open evening with the Chiefs.

As keen rugby supporters we were thrilled when we secured a sponsorship deal with the Exeter Chiefs.  An extract from their website reflects their ongoing success story.

"The 2009/10 season turned out to be the best yet for Exeter with a record run of opening league game wins intercepted by a three-match dip during the Christmas period, followed by another collection of wins to put them in second place in the league. This left Exeter at the top of pool B for the play-off phase and four wins in this six-game stage gave them a home semi-final against Bedford Blues. Chiefs comfortably dispatched the Blues to set up a two-leg Championship final against Bristol Rugby."

We proudly support the Exeter Chiefs.  Here's to a success season.

We are delighted to announce that Simon Crook from the Panasonic Store in Bristol has Touched, Shot and Won Panasonic's June competition.

"His picture, entitled 'Summer Bloom' has a lovely, British Summer feel and we think it really shows what the Lumix G2 can do."

In Store Cookery Evenings - Next one in Salisbury

P1000681

We would like to thank everyone who attended our recent  microwave cookery evenings at one of our stores.

These evenings provide a fantastic opportunity to discover how to get the most from your Panasonic microwave.

I was very impressed with the cheerful, polite and very helpful service we received from the Dorchester store. We also went to an open evening they held there with a demonstration of microwave/combination ovens. Brilliant! We bought one on that evening. It was 9pm when we left and the staff were still smiling - they even carried it to our car for us. Well done Dorchester!,  Margaret Galloway

If you think you have missed out and can get to our Salisbury store then please email us and we will send you an invite to our next cookery evening.

As part of our Newton Abbot cookery evening, held on Wednesday 14th July, we had a competition to win a cast iron Creuset pot (worth £80). This was won by Mrs Goodman and she is shown receiving her prize below, congratulations.

Proud to sponsor Stuart's Trans America Charity Cycle

Stuart Woolgers - Prologue

Starting in May 2010 I plan to cycle across the USA, from the Atlantic coast  to the Pacific coast, following the Adventure Cycling Association’s 4,262 mile TransAmerica Trail (Trans Am).

The Route page has a map and full description of the trail as it makes it's way through the middle of America. The route deliberately avoids large cities and so gives a taste of the small town America rarely seen by tourists.

I plan to camp wherever possible and cook my own food, but inevitably fatigue and the need of a good shower will probably see me staying in a motel once a week.

There are also many other accommodation opportunities en route, including fire stations, municipal parks and churches, all of which open their doors to the steady trickle of riders who attempt the Trans Am every year.

As I will need to consume around 6000 calories a day stopping off at café's to load up on carbs will be a vital part of my daily routine. I'm sure the Americans love of large portions will make this task easier!

I have chosen Shelterbox as my charity of choice, the work they do in providing emergency aid to countries struck by natural disaster or war is phenomenal and there rapid response and ongoing aid in Haiti shows what a worthwhile charity they are.

Each Shelterbox costs £490 and using this Blog, Twitter and Facebook I hope to spread the word about my journey in order to purchase as many boxes as possible. I hope when you read this article you will forward the link to all your friends and donate generously using my donation page.

10K Exterminator Run

south devon college exterminator run

Sunday May 9th 2010. A very relieved Panasonic Toughbook specialist (and his fiancee) crossing the finish line at South Devon College's Exterminator 10K run.

Justin had recently taken advantage of the 36 month warranty and £50 cash-back offer to purchase a DMC-G1. Having seen this photograph, he now wishes he hadn't bought the zoom lens to go with it.

3D TV Reviews - Panasonic Plasma Vs Samsung LCD

8621

Whilst not a comprehensive review (by their own admission), Consumer Reports have got hold of Samsung’s 46-inch 7000- and 8000-series LCD TVs and compared them with the Panasonic’s 50-inch VT-20 series 1080p plasma.

"...based on our preliminary tests, we give the Panasonic the edge. In the 3D mode, its lack of crosstalk and great black levels really made three-dimensional images pop. It also didn’t have any issues with backlight cloudiness, and offered a very wide viewing angle."

"But remember that we haven’t completed our final tests, and haven’t seen enough 3D sets to make any judgments about whether plasma or LCD is inherently a better technology for displaying 3D. But we can’t wait to get more sets into our TV Lab."

Read the review at blogs.consumerreports.org

Incredible demand for Panasonic 3D TVs

According to reports from Bloomberg and ERTOnline, the demand for Panasonic 3D TVs in America has outstripped supply.  Consequently, Panasonic sold out of 3D TVs in their first week.

"The shortage is prompting the world’s largest plasma TV maker to take back-orders from retailers, Hitoshi Otsuki, the senior managing director heading Osaka-based Panasonic’s overseas operations, said in an interview yesterday in Tokyo."  Bloomberg

Other than success with 3D movies, sport broadcasting is set to take the world by storm.  Sky is investing heavily in this area and already has the capability to broadcast 3D enabled football matches.

We think 3D will be big.

Important information regarding 60/600 and 70/700 series televisions

We are experiencing a large number of calls from customers who own LCD and Plasma televisions from the 60/600 and 70/700 series whose televisions are intermittently displaying the information banner with slow remote operation and also switching AV inputs.

Panasonic believe this is a transmission error and not a fault with the television. Would customers with similar problems please email our service dept. with their model number and postcode and we will pass this report directly to Panasonic.

Emma captures Bristol

Bristol Image competition winner Our latest store, in Clifton, has recently opened and as part of our discovery into the area, we asked residents to take a photo that they felt encapsulated Bristol.

We were particularly taken by Emma's photograph and have awarded her a Panasonic DMC-FS62 Lumix Digital Camera with case and 2Gb SD card as a fitting acknowledgement. Congratulations Emma!

One Man, Two Oceans, Three Causes

We were introduced to Dave Brooks at the Southampton Boat Show and knew instantly that we had to support this remarkable young man's endeavour.

Dave is a 23 year old who has recently graduated from the University of Birmingham, having read Geography. A keen rower, he decided to embark on an ambitious fund-raising row across not only one ocean, but two.

Dave intends to row over the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific. His destination is Australia.

To assist him on his way we have kitted him out with a Panasonic toughbook, a camcorder and funds towards his costs.
